The best way to hone in on your target is by excluding as many posts as you can. Do it and I guarantee that your ad will only appear in those that you prefer. Taboola assigns you a person in charge (rep). Your rep sells you a package and then sends you a consent document to sign. I had to confirm $5,000 and $45 per click rate. They did not give me a specific time to spend the 5,000, I only had to authorize that expense. When I put up my first campaign with a budget of $500 with Taboola, I spent the $500 in something like 30 seconds.
They got so much traffic it was nothing to them. Literally my entire investment was gone in seconds. Google Analytics reflected that the statistics were real too. I had about 1,200 clicks in a few seconds. Crazy Out brain didn’t give me a rep. I did it all electronically and was up and running with my first Fax Lists campaign in minutes. They do not ask you for a minimum investment and I was able to establish a daily limit of clicks. Outbrain spaces the clicks throughout the day. While I paid $45 click on Taboola, I spent over $10/click on Outbrain.
The quality of the traffic and distribution of the sites is similar, so I figured I was getting more for my money on Outbrain . When to use Outbrain vs. Taboo la? Taboola has much more traffic, so if your goal is pure click volume, go with Taboola, Outbrain was easier to use (despite not having a rep) and cheaper. If you’re just starting out with these types of ads, or if you’re clearly trying to get more traffic to your blog - go with Outbrain. I use Taboola too. Because there are some big sites that I want to put my content on, like Forbes or CNBC. I put my ads there for brand image (branding) and all that. Especially since pixel tracking (remarketing) on my website can redirect you to Facebook and Ad Network. So I need to use both.
