In this post, I’m sharing a technique to get ChatGPT Go, an offer not yet available in France, free for 12 months 🎉
ChatGPT Go is the slightly cheaper alternative to ChatGPT Plus. Here’s what it offers:

Extended access to advanced data analysis
Longer memory for more personalized responses
Access to projects, tasks, and custom GPTs
OpenAI launched this new offer in India 🇮🇳, with 12 free months.
⚠️ The problem: I first tried with a VPN in India, but the payment wouldn’t go through. I tested with a Wise and Revolut card, but both were declined (and no other payment method was offered).
😎 The solution: Use Google Pay with an Indian Google account!

📲 Step-by-Step Guide:
1️⃣ Create an Indian Google Account
It is recommended to create a new Google account.
👉 Tip: Create the account directly on your phone (via the Gmail app) to avoid needing a phone number during registration.
Make sure this new Google account is added to your phone.
2️⃣ Configure Google Pay
Go to Google Pay (Wallet) (logged in with your new Indian account).
Add your card (Revolut, Wise, or your regular card) using a billing address in India.

3️⃣ Install the App (Important Method)
⚠️ Do not install the app from your phone’s Play Store. If you have your main account, the payment will default to it, and the offer won’t appear.
From a web browser (on phone or PC), go to the ChatGPT Play Store page.
Make sure you are logged into the new Indian Google account in the browser.
Click on “Install on other devices” (or “Install”).
Select your phone from the list, enter your Google password if requested, and wait for the app to install.
4️⃣ Activate the Offer
Activate your VPN in India 🇮🇳.
Open the ChatGPT app on your phone.
Log in (or create an OpenAI account if you don’t have one).
You should see a message at the top: “Try Go”. Click on it.
The “Try Go free for 12 months” offer should appear.
Click on “Upgrade to ChatGPT Go”.
At the Google Play payment prompt, select the card you configured in step 2.
Validate, and you’re done! ✅
5️⃣ Cancel the Renewal (Crucial!)
🚨 IMPORTANT: To avoid being charged next year, cancel the renewal immediately.
Go to your Google Play subscriptions:
https://play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions
Find the ChatGPT subscription, click “Manage” and then “Cancel subscription”.
The subscription will remain active for the 12 months, but you will not be charged.

You can now deactivate the VPN and log into your Go account on any device (PC, etc.)!
