Face Layers 1.5 Add-on for Blender — Better Control Over Mesh Faces

Face Layers 1.5 Add-on for Blender is a specialized modeling tool that gives you powerful face selection and layer management inside Blender. Instead of manually digging through the mesh to organize, hide, select, or isolate faces, this addon lets you group, name, reorder, hide, lock, and even assign materials to face-based layers — all with a clean UI and quick controls.
What Is Face Layers 1.5?
Face Layers 1.5 is a Blender add-on designed to help artists manage complex models by grouping faces into layers and then quickly interacting with them. It expands on what Blender’s native face maps provide with a simple workflow for selecting, hiding, locking, renaming, reordering, and applying materials to face sets.
Instead of dragging through tons of geometry or using vertex groups for organization, this addon gives you a face-centric workflow that’s especially useful for painting, texturing, trimming, cleanup, and quick masking.

Core Features
Create and Manage Face Layers
The add-on lets you create multiple face layers inside the same mesh object. You can name layers, reorder them, and keep track of them in a panel.
Quick Select, Hide & Lock
Instead of manually selecting faces in Edit Mode, you can click to select or hide all faces in a layer. Lock layers to prevent accidental edits while working on other areas.
Assign Materials Per Layer
Create and assign different materials to individual face layers. This is super useful for making ID maps, multiple materials per object, or face-specific shading setups without complex node setups.
Face Data & Statistics
The addon includes a Mesh Data panel that shows stats like number of faces, triangles, and ngons per layer — helping you spot trouble areas or optimize your mesh.
Material & Color Palettes
You can quickly create materials for all layers and randomize colors to visualize them or build fast mask maps. The palette panel even lets you paste hex colors to match reference swatches.
Customizable UI & Pie Menu
Face Layers comes with a default pie menu (Ctrl+Shift+Alt+F) for fast access to layer commands. You can customize this shortcut and the UI layout to fit your preference.
